ANNUAL DYNAMICS OF ABUNDANCE, LENGTH AND AGE FREQUENCY OF HELICOMETRA FASCIATA (RUD., 1819) MARITAE IN THE BLACK SEA COASTAL ZONE
Keywords:
Black Sea, Helicometra fasciata, population structure, seasonal changes, Symphodus tincaAbstract
The seasonal occurrence of Helicometra fasciata in the Black Sea peacock wrasses, Symphodus tinca, was studied. As adult as juveniles maritae occurs in the wrasses guts through the year; individual digenean of this species lives about a year; as a rule, total abundance of digeneans doesn’t suffer considerable changes during the year period. Such model of seasonal changes provides relative independence of Helicometra fasciata population system of inter-annual fluctuations of abiotic environment and stability of the population in the Black Sea coastal biocenosis.
